Bundesweites Wildtierverbot im Zirkus

Mein Name ist Holger Friedrich und ich möchte mich mit dieser Petition für ein Bundesgesetzt zum Wildtierverbot im Zirkus einsetzen.

Ich halte die Zurschaustellung von Tieren im Zirkus grundsätzlich für problematisch. Aber speziell für Wildtiere ist sie untragbar. Die meist durch Zwang geprägten Dressuren, ein Leben in beengten Käfigen und Gehegen, klimatisch schwierige Bedingungen und die nie enden wollenden Transporte von einem Veranstaltungsort zum anderen. All das ist für Wildtiere nicht kompensierbar.

Alle nicht domestizierten Tiere sind Wildtiere, auch wenn sie schon seit Generationen im Zirkus gezüchtet/vermehrt werden. Daher ist die Behauptung der Befürworter von Wildtieren im Zirkus falsch und oft bewusst irreführend, dass diese Tiere keine Wildtiere mehr sind und die Unterscheidung zwischen Wildtier und Haustier schwierig ist.

Entsprechende Länderanträge im Bundesrat in den Jahren 2003 und 2011 für ein Wildtierverbot im Zirkus scheiterten. Seit dem sind Städte und Gemeinden auf sich selbst gestellt und können Wildtierverbote im Zirkus nur auf öffentlichen Flächen durchsetzen. Ein verbindliches Bundesgesetz fehlt, um Städten und Gemeinden eine Rechtssicherheit zu geben. Da es fast überall genügend private Flächen gibt, kann ein Zirkus mit Wildtieren oftmals auf diese Flächen ausweichen. Und daher ist ein Verbot von Wildtieren im Zirkus auf öffentlichen Flächen zwar ein lobenswerter Ansatz, letztlich aber nur eine nicht wirklich zielführende Alternative.

Mit Datum vom 18. März 2016 ist die erneute hessische Initiative für ein Verbot von Wildtieren im Zirkus positiv im Bundesrat aufgenommen worden und wurde jetzt zur Entscheidung der Bundesregierung übergeben.

Und genau hier liegt jetzt die Gefahr, dass diese Initiative erneut scheitert – die Lobbyisten für Wildtiere im Zirkus sind bereits aktiv. Und auch seitens der Bundesregierung kündigt sich erneut Widerstand an. Daher ist es jetzt entscheidend, dass wir unsere Stimme erheben.

Diesmal muss es klappen! Wenn nicht, werden wieder Jahre vergehen, bis sich Bundesrat und Bundestag erneut mit der Angelegenheit befassen.

Zirkus JA, Wildtiere NEIN!

Find out more and what YOU can do to help Thailand: Government Begins Removing Tigers from Infamous Temple Following mounting pressure for intervention following allegations of involvement in the illegal wildlife trade, five tigers were seized on the 28th January from the infamous “Tiger Temple” in Kanchanaburi, three hours’ drive northwest of Bangkok. The temple has long been an attraction for visitors who want hands-on contact with some of its 147 captive tigers, but has also long been at the centre of controversy with former workers and animal welfare advocates highlighting the plight of the tigers who are housed in small concrete cages, beaten and in desperate need of veterinary care. Read the report that has encouraged the intervention Pig slaughter “festival” goes ahead in Vietnam amid increased outcry The Asia For Animals Coalition is deeply saddened to report that earlier this month, two pigs were slaughtered at the Nem Thuong Festival after being cruelly tied down and paraded through the town, despite national and international outcry. The event was reported in Vietnam’s Tuoi Tre newspaper: “Instead of scrapping a brutal public pig-hacking rite as urged by many people and an animal rights organization, locals in a northern Vietnamese province went ahead with a swine slaughter ritual as part of their traditional Tet (Lunar New Year) festival on Saturday, but away from the spotlight.” The Asia For Animals Coalition will continue to lobby for change and will not give up on the fight to end this brutal act. The Ocean theme park industry in China  is booming, with 39 parks all involved in capturing some of the world’s most magnificent and intelligent animals from the wild and keeping many of them in cramped, inadequate conditions.  Attendance has been dropping at some of the roughly 30 such ocean theme parks in the United States in the wake of reports about the welfare of sea mammals in captivity. But in China, the industry is expanding rapidly, with sixteen additional parks under construction. Liebe Frau Li, wir freuen uns sehr: Am 28.01.2016 wurde das neue VIER PFOTEN Zentrum für tiergestützte Therapie in Bukarest offiziell eröffnet. Ab jetzt können Kinder mit Beeinträchtigungen dort von ehemaligen Streunerhunden und deren Hundeführern empfangen werden – und dies völlig kostenlos für die kleinen Patienten, denn das Therapiezentrum ist zu 100% spendenfinanziert. Streunerhunde eignen sich mit ihrer Energie und Anpassungsfähigkeit besonders für den Therapieeinsatz. Die positiven Wirkungen tiergestützter Therapie wurden lange Zeit unterschätzt, doch das neue Zentrum wird zeigen, wie Hunde in gezielten Therapiesitzungen zum physischen und emotionalen Wohlbefinden von Kindern beitragen können.
